Antibullying policy

New Invention Junior School

  • The school will look after the welfare of its children by providing a safe and secure environment for all individuals.
  • Any physical threats of a sexist, discriminatory, racist nature or verbal abuse or anything, which intentionally makes a person feel unhappy or unwilling to attend, will not be tolerated.
  • Issues of concern, raised by the Staff, children or Carers should be recorded, monitored and investigated immediately.

Guidelines On Bullying

As an Organisation we seek to provide an environment, which is stable, well ordered and disciplined. We expect children to behave with courtesy, common sense and respect for others. This principle should govern children’s behaviour at any activity provided by New Invention School. It follows, therefore, that we will not accept any form of bullying or intimidation by a child or group of children upon another.

Bullying can take a variety of forms from name calling to the threat or use of physical violence but we should treat all examples of this unsociable behaviour seriously. We should never dismiss a child complaint that he/she is being bullied or intimidated. We should certainly never assume that the child is being ‘over sensitive’, that he/she bought the incident upon themselves or that they ‘should stand up for themselves more. We should not underestimate the effects that bullying can have upon a child. Both research and specific incidents reported in the press have pointed to the feelings of unhappiness, fear, insecurity and desperation that bullying can generate.

All staff should therefore…
Use opportunities to explain to children what the Schools policy is with regard to bullying and explain to children what they should do if they fell they are being made the target of such behaviour.

Be vigilant in their observation and in their day-to-day conversations with children to discover incidents of bullying which might take place.

Report any suspicion of bullying to their Line Manager who will then take the appropriate steps to resolve this unacceptable behaviour.

REMEMBER THAT BULLYING IS UNACCEPTABLE AND WILL NOT BE TOLERATED IN ANY FORM.

As a school we are part of the Walsall Anti-Bullying Forum.
